Artwork from the “Golden fake” series, which explores the tension between appearance and truth - between what seems like value or success and what is in fact only their imitation.
“Kettlebell” is a work about the weight we carry every day. The figure, paused mid-movement, bends in a way that suggests an effort greater than the object itself would require. The weight shines in gold, almost like a trophy, yet instead of giving strength, it pulls downward. It becomes the weight of beliefs, patterns, and roles we have grown accustomed to.
The halo behind the head turns into a symbol of ambition, pressure, and the need to remain in a “good light” - the kind in which we want to be seen by others. Golden and copper elements of the body form a map of tension: places where effort, expectations, and long-term strain accumulate. The gesture remains visually striking, yet controlled - it is difficult to find lightness in it.
“Kettlebell” does not speak about strength as the ability to lift increasingly heavier weight. It captures a moment in which a more fundamental question arises: what do we truly carry - and why do we allow it to weigh more than it should? It is a story about choice. About deciding what is worth continuing to carry, and what can finally be set down.
In darkness, the work reveals its second aspect - the contours begin to glow with their own light, bringing out the pure line of movement.
